Gene Sincere Biotechnology Co Ltd (Gene Sincere) was established in 2017 focusing on R&D and commercialization of biotechnological products and processes in Hong Kong, RRC and overseas. Since its establishment, Gene Sincere has developed rapidly and achieved impressive performance.

Research Background

The core technologies in producing authentic EGF and bFGF, of which a number of international patents have been obtained for their protection, have been developed by Professor Wong Wan Keung and his team in the past 3 decades. Professor Wong received his PhD from UBC in Vancouver, Canada, and then worked as a Research Scientist at a leading biotechnology, Allelix Inc. in Toronto, Canada. He has been affiliated as as a professor with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 1990. In addition to the patents obtained for his inventions, Professor Wong has also won many awards in different parts of the world.

After more than 30 years of endeavour, Professor Wong’s team has developed proprietary technologies to efficiently produce two recombinant skin growth factors: epidermal growth factor (EGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). Their efforts paid off and they became the first group worldwide capable of producing authentic EGF and bFGF, which share the same structures with their human counterparts. The benefits of employing the two authentic factors as active ingredients in skin care products include: high levels of important properties including safety, biological activity and stability. Another noteworthy point is that Gene Sincere have the proprietary rights for producing of the two recombinant skin growth factors.

Professor Wong obtained his PhD in Microbiology from UBC in 1986. Not only is Professor Wong specialized in microbiology, but he also excels in molecular biology, immunochemistry and fermentation technology. Moreover, he has more than 30 years of experience in the development and commercial applications of varies biotechnological aspects.

Through advanced recombinant DNA technology and streamlined purification processes, Professor Wong’s group has remarkably pioneered the production of authentic as well as high quality EGF and bFGF, thus facilitating their application to cost-effective skin and medical care industries. The team’s achievements have helped laid the foundation for further biotechnological discoveries and developments for skin care and cosmetic applications.
